Purview Image™ FAQs
Purview Image™ is a complete solution - a cloud-based platform that stores and organizes DICOM medical images, includes an FDA-approved viewer that works on any browser and device, creates radiology reports, and shares these medical records electronically.
Horos is a free open-source medical image viewer only. It also works only on Apple Mac operating systems and is not built for mobile. Users can view images and create reports in Horos, but are limited to the local machine that Horos is installed on for storage and cannot share electronically.
Purview is the chief sponsor of Horos.
The main difference is that the Purview Image™ platform focuses on the individual DICOM study, such as a particular CT scan of a patient while Expert View™ includes the DICOM imaging as well as all other relevant case information. This may include EHR text extracts, videos, digital pathology, pdfs, and anything else that might be relevant to support a more holistic review of a case. Expert View™ is used by large academic medical institutions, individual specialists, insurance providers, professional athletes, medical concierge organizations, and anyone else looking to review medical cases remotely. Providers can review in real-time through synchronous video, but many choose to review asynchronously. The platform facilitates easy review of all records and the issuance of a professional written opinion from an expert, often used by hospital second opinion programs.
There are different plans available designed to fit the differing needs of our customers. You can find more pricing information on our pricing page here.
Purview will work with you and your previous storage solution to move legacy data into the Purview Image™ cloud. Typically, the legacy data is provided to Purview in DICOM-compliant format on an external hard drive.
Yes, Purview can integrate with systems that are compatible with SAML 2.0. You can learn more here: https://www.purview.net/sso
Purview Image™ can integrate with your Radiology Information System (RIS) and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to enable communication between the two platforms. Depending on the connection, we may utilize an Application Programming Interface (API) or Health Level Seven (HL7) connection.
Webviewer integration - weblinks of images that are stored in Image™ can be embedded into another platform
Report integration - radiology reports stored in Image™ can be made available in another platform
Modality Worklist (MWL) integration - demographic information of a patient can be automatically transmitted from the scheduling platform to the imaging scanner, reducing the amount of manual data entry required

Yes! Purview Image™ is often used for research purposes, like clinical trials, because the medical image collection, storage, and review process much more streamlined compared to using physical media. It's also possible to de-identify studies with Purview Image™, often a requirement for some research projects.
Purview Image™ is also used for educational use-cases including radiology viewer training, examination, and medical image presentation.
Yes! Your Purview Image™ platform can be configured to utilize your business name, logo, and URL. An example of the url would be: https://clientname.purview.net/
In addition to a custom branded platform, you have the ability to create branded radiology reports and email messages with your company brand and information.
DICOM images can be uploaded directly to the cloud while logged in by dragging and dropping on your screen, sharing an upload link with a non-credentialed user, direct from the modality over DICOM protocol (IP address, AE Title, Port), or through a direct send from another PACS. Depending on the local regulations, a secure connection such as a virtual private network (VPN) may be required to protect medical information during some image uploads.
